Chandrahar Patil to join Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, quits Uddhav’s UBT faction

The political scenario of Maharashtra state looks like a plot twist in a thriller movie. With talks of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray coming together, there is another development happening in the state. As reported by PTI, wrestler-turned-politician Chandrahar Patil, who had fought the 2024 Lok Sabha election from the Sangli seat in Maharashtra, is all set to join the ruling party and will part ways with Uddhav Thackeray`s Shiv Sena (UBT). As per reports, Patil will be joining the ruling Shiv Sena on June 9, state minister Sanjay Shirsat claimed here on Wednesday.

Sanjay Shirsat, who currently holds the office of Minister of Social Justice in Maharashtra, is also the spokesperson of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

Earlier, talking to reporters, the Maharashtra Minister Sanjay Shirsat said, “Many people will be joining our party on Monday and also by the end of this month. Chandrahar Patil is also planning to join the party. Stop if you can.”

While slamming Shiv Sena (UBT) and Uddhav Thackeray, he said, “Nobody is ready to stay with them, and they should look into their own party`s affairs.”

While he was addressing the media, he was asked about the claim of local BJP leaders that the next mayor of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will be from their party after the municipal polls. Replying to this, Shirsat said, “These leaders are enthusiastic and are in a mood of doing anything for the party. Our best wishes are with them. However, the party should organise a workshop to educate its leaders on effective communication.

The Sangli seat in the Maharashtra assembly is one of the hot seats which is very challenging to win. In the last Lok Sabha election as well, the Sangli seat was a hotly contested one, with Vishal Patil, a Congress leader, entering the fray as an independent against Sena (UBT) candidate Chandrahar Patil. He was fielded by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

However, Vishal Patil emerged victorious after a tough fight, trouncing BJP`s sitting MP Sanjaykaka Patil, while Chandrahar Patil came a distant third with the ignominy of seeing his deposit getting forfeited.
