Adhyayan Suman says, `luxury feels like a jail` after not getting any offers

Shekhar Suman`s son, Adhyayan Suman, made his debut on the big screen 17 years ago, However, he is yet to make his mark. Last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s Heeramandi, the actor says he suffered the negative effects of being a star kid as “he did not get any work because of nepotism.” For the unversed, Adhyayan made his debut in 2008 with Haal–e–dil. Later, he featured in other films like Raaz, Himmatwala, Jashnn and many others; however, he could never make a mark. Recently, he opened up about his career, the nepotism debate and how being a star kid.

Adhyayan Suman opens up about not getting offers after Heeramandi

Adhyayan was seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi last year. But ever since, he hasn`t been seen in any notable projects. During a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actor revealed that he was shocked after not receiving the kind of offers he had expected after Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s debut series.

Adhyayan Suman shared, “I can say I am the best example of nepotism, as I didn’t get any work because of nepotism, I can prove that. And you know I feel nepotism is a very futile debate, and I think it became a sort of fashion conversation.” Talking of Heeramandi, he said, ” I didn’t get the kind of roles I expected.”

Admitting that his role of Zorawar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series was a “relatively smaller role” but an “impactful” one, he shared, “I thought my luck would change now and I would get good work, good roles, but nothing of that sort happened. And for 6 months, I thought that for so long I was thinking that I am not getting a good opportunity, I got the opportunity to work with arguably the biggest filmmaker in the country today, Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who came out and spoke about me. Still, you know, I didn’t get the work, who am I supposed to blame? Myself or the people in the industry.”

Further, talking about the conversation around nepotism, he says it is extremely “futile”. Adhyayan revealed that even though he lives a luxurious life, he is fully aware that his current life is the result of his father’s hard work. Comparing his luxurious life to a prison, he said, “Luxury feels like jail at one point of your life. No matter how many cars that your father gives you or the house or the penthouses that you live in or the vacations that you go to, people like me with a conscience to do something in life are miserable.”

He concluded, “Because what you do beyond the point… I mean, you’ve owned the car, you’ve owned the house, it’s not yours, it’s your father’s, it’s his hard work, you’ve enjoyed it. But beyond the point, you feel like, ‘what is mine?’ At 37, I don’t own a home.”
