Earlier today, it was reported that Amitabh Bachchan will be quitting Kaun Banega Crorepati as the host. He has been a part of the popular series since its inception in 2000. A report today suggested that superstar Salman Khan will be replacing Amitabh Bachchan as the host of the game show telecast on Sony TV.
However, industry sources have denied any such development.
Is Salman Khan replacing Amitabh Bachchan on KBC?
When Mid-day contacted people in the know about the reported changes in the host of the long-running show KBC, we found out that there is no truth to the rumours. A well-placed industry source has confirmed that there is no truth to Salman Khan replacing Mr Bachchan as the host.
Earlier in the day, a report in Bollywood Hungama quoted a source who claimed that Salman Khan is in advanced talks to take over hosting duties from Amitabh Bachchan. It was also reported that Mr Bachchan has opted to quit the show owing to “personal reasons”.
Amitabh`s last update on KBC
After wrapping season 16 of the quiz show, Bachchan had shared an update on the upcoming season in March this year.
“Work is the reliever of one`s destiny .. and the next season preparations have begun in real earnest for the SHOW .. so the initial step be the promo to invite for registrations (sic),” the icon wrote on his blog.
In the same month, he confirmed that he will return as the host for the upcoming season of the popular game show, `Kaun Banega Crorepati`.
In his final goodbye for season 16 he said said in Hindi, “As I bid farewell, I just want to say that if our efforts have even slightly touched someone’s life or if the words spoken here have ignited hope in any way, then I will consider our 25-year-long journey truly successful. So, ladies and gentlemen, I will see you in the next season. Keep believing in your hard work, keep your dreams alive. Don’t stop, don’t bow down. You are valuable just the way you are, dear to me, and my own. Until we meet again, this is Amitabh Bachchan, signing off from this season with my final words—Shubh Ratri.”
