Amid growing calls to boycott Turkey and Azerbaijan over geopolitical tensions, singer Rahul Vaidya has revealed that he turned down a lucrative offer to perform in Turkey. He claimed that he was offered Rs 50 lakh to sing at a wedding scheduled to take place on July 5 in Antalya. His decision came after Turkey openly expressed support for Pakistan amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
Rahul Vaidya on refusing offer to perform in Turkey
In a conversation with ETimes, Rahul Vaidya spoke about rejecting the offer, saying, “The offer was lucrative — they were paying me Rs 50 lakh. But I told them that no work, no money, and no fame can surpass the interest of the country. They even offered me more, but I made it clear that it wasn’t about the money. This issue is far more important than that. It’s not about me as an individual; it’s about the nation. And we have to stand by our nation.”
Vaidya further emphasized that he has no interest in visiting a country that disrespects India. He said that everything he is today is because of his country and fellow Indians.
“Anyone who goes against the interests of my country and countrymen will not be entertained,” he added.
All about Rahul Vaidya-Virat Kohli controversy
Virat Kohli made headlines after he liked a picture of social media star Avneet Kaur; later, he put out a clarification blaming the Instagram algorithm. After Virat`s clarification came out, singer and Bigg Boss 16 fame Rahul K Vaidya blasted Kohli for what he called a baseless explanation. In a video, Rahul said, “Main kehna chahta hoon ki aaj ke baad aisa ho sakta hai ki algorithm bohot saare photos like kar de jo maine nahi kare. So, jo bhi ladki ho (I want to say that going forward, the algorithm might like many photos which I didn’t like. So, the girls), please don’t do PR around it because it is not my mistake. It is Instagram’s mistake, okay?”
Rahul also claimed that Kohli has blocked him on Instagram because of the post, though he added it might just be an `Instagram glitch,` as the RCB star himself had suggested. This made Rahul put out another message where he indirectly called Virat a joker. In his Instagram story, Rahul said, “Virat Kohli`s fans are even bigger jokers than Virat!” He went on to express his anger over the abuse targeted at his family.
